DRAMATIC WATERFRONT VACATION RENTAL HOME ON ORCAS ISLAND

Dream of a tranquil evening, a glowing sunset, a flagstone patio overlooking East Sound, a crackling fire in a big stone fireplace. You'll make that dream a reality in this beautiful Orcas Island vacation rental waterfront home built on 2+ acres of peace and privacy.

Strong timber beams, warm wood interiors, stone fireplaces, softly worn leathers, gently faded rugs - the atmosphere of Loon Song Lodge will remind you of a classic national park lodge. This cherished home is only five years old, yet it’s filled with history. The wide plank wood floors were recycled from an old church, a carved horse was once the prow of a ship, there’s even a totem pole artfully placed. Vintage side tables, dressers, bunks made from lodge poles, and benches at the dining table complete the quiet statement from the past.

There are new conveniences to enjoy as well, especially the large kitchen with good appliances and a central island with room for all to help prepare a meal. WIFI will keep you connected, and you can bring DVD’s to enjoy (but warning, no TV – find the Bar & Grill in town if you must watch the playoffs.)

Three spacious bedrooms are all upstairs. The master bedroom offers a king-size bed and en-suite bath with stall shower and a romantic soaking tub in an alcove. (But please note, this bedroom is very privately located up a separate flight of stairs, so the age and independence of children sleeping apart in the other two bedrooms should be considered.) The other two bedrooms are each equipped with a set of bunks – one queen bed up & one queen bed down in each room. These two rooms share a bath with a shower. There is also a powder room off the entry.

Loon Song Lodge is built on a sloped, medium bank waterfront lot (no beach access), so small children do require supervision. This home offers a private, quiet setting, but it's conveniently located within five minutes of the shops and dining spots in Eastsound Village.

A small, well-behaved dog may be considered on an exception basis.

    We had just a few minor--repeat, minor--quibbles with the place. Here is a list of what would have made the perfect house even more perfect:
    - More light in the dining room
    - More hooks in the master bath
    - Better lighting in the hallway leading up to the master suite (those stairs are tricky, and the blue tape wasn't always visible)
    - A heads-up about the steepness of the driveway (the first time driving up, we panicked a little--good thing it wasn't raining!)
    - We typically had to reset the WiFi once daily (no big deal--just unplugged it, waited a few moments, and plugged it back in)
    Plus, there was a mouse we noticed in the kitchen once or twice. And I'm pretty sure there was an animal behind the drywall in the master bedroom--it may have been the mouse.

    Again, minor quibbles. We had a great week!

    If you're traveling to Orcas with a group of 6 adults, you can't do better than this place. There's an outdoor sofa to let you enjoy the view comfortably, a very functional kitchen big enough to let multiple people work in it at once, a huge dining room table, etc. If you have a bunch of kids, the queen bunk beds should let you have plenty of privacy in the master suite on the other side of the house.

    We experienced problem with water during shower...some times the water just stops and becomes muddy or grainy. The back patio needed more cleaning. Spider webs and plants growing in gutters and outside soffits. The place could use more cleaning before guest arrives. Outside driveway also needs weeds to be pulled out more...we like the rustic feel but the weeds were everywhere. However, the indoor condition was excellent, lots of room and kitchen was well equipped. Fun to cook and lounge around the island kitchen area. All in all, scale 1 to 5...give it a 4. Thank you. We will definitely rent it again.
    By the way, do we get our damage waiver deposit of $75.00 ? Pls advise.
